Perhaps one of the most incredible experiences of life, for me anyway, comes during those special occasions when so many of those I love rest under one roof. With that experience I feel a sense of purpose and peace. To have together spouse, children, grandchildren, and even pets who are valuable, important, and part of durable and sustainable relationships all sharing the same food, space, hugs, and quality rest.
True, our busy lives make it impossible for all to be gathered at one time as often as we might like, and it would not be healthy if we all were constantly joined at the hip, but during those times when most can come together, well, it is always cause for celebration and expressing heartfelt gratitude. I am truly grateful for those that I love and the life that, with hard work and patience and determination, has unfolded. Amazing and priceless…
Maybe it is all about trust — trusting that those near and dear are honest, real, and genuine human beings. I realize that those are the qualities that endear me to another, warts and all. It is powerful and also comforting to feel that one can trust significant others to be who they are, no charade, no façade.
I stumbled across a website by a man in Wales who has built an environmentally friendly home for his family. The pictures he includes suggest that he and his family appreciate the feeling that I know when those I love are under one roof. His creative vision, skill, and talent allow him to express his values in his own unique way. But I like his story and photos!
