Reasons to Call Off a Marriage

October 20, 2015 by Debi

There are reasons to call off a marriage:
1.  You are younger than 18 years of age – predictor of divorce
2.  You have known the partner for less than two years – higher divorce rate
3.  The relationship is abusive – abuse will most likely continue
4.  The relationship is highly conflictual – less likely to stay married
5.  There are numerous significant differences – in key areas such as race, religion, social class, education, values, and goals
6.  There is a relationship pattern of “on-and-off” – predictive of a marriage that will show the same pattern
7.  When there is dramatic parental disapproval – often comes true and continues
8.  When there is financial stress – constant friction and feeling that your income is inadequate
