There is a Kindness

February 2, 2016 by Debi

A special friend shared this poem with me today… In reflecting on simple kindnesses that humans offer to each other it is important to pass along.

Be kind to others as you navigate through your life.

There Is a Kindness

~ John Isaacs

There is a kindness to life

That goes unnoticed or unseen

Through the veil of self-absorption and suffering.

The air I breathe, the ground I stand on,

The magic that beats my heart, the soil that feeds me,

The people who support me,

A vast web of interconnectedness and generosity.

A thread of love runs through even the darkest moments,

In the very fabric of life itself.

Even in the dead and frozen landscape of winter,

Where nothing seems to move,

It is there

When sensed and followed like a dog scent

It becomes a path to true sanity and strength.

To get what you want is not always kindness

Sometimes, who is to say what is kind?

Some of my most difficult moments have been the kindest.

There is an unfathomable intelligence and mystery to life

That can only be known

Through surrender and a trust in its unfolding.
