Don’t Take Things Personally

March 28, 2019 by Debi

A dear friend of mine often tells me about books she reads that resonate with her. I appreciate her thoughtfulness and open mind and heart….

This evening after dance class my friend shared the following quote from “Rowing the Atlantic” by Roz Savage.

“I have learned not to take things personally. Just as I eventually realized that the ocean was not being deliberately spiteful in order to punish me — it was doing what oceans do, according to the laws of physics — so just the same, if people cricicize me or judge me, it is not really about me, it is about them. They are acting according to the laws of thier own personal physics, created by a life history of conditioned hopes, fears, and emotional triggers, which have nothing to do with me.”

Might this be what goes on for that person who bullies another? Share your thoughts…
